Beach Weeping Start-up Action
Last Monday, October 11 and 18, the entire Sollac Tintas® – Newger Lda. team, together with the Torres Vedras City Council and its Environmental Education Center Office, were at Praia Azul and Praia de Santa Rita, in Torres Vedras, for a joint action to uproot Chorão, an invasive plant in the dunes.
The beach weevil (Carpobrotus edulis) is an invasive plant that devastates the entire biodiversity of the dunes, preventing local plants from growing. As a result, the local fauna also loses food and stops developing. Invasive species are currently the main threat to our country’s natural ecosystems.
With the company’s employees divided into two teams, these two sites were successfully cleared of beach weeping, thus contributing to the environmental improvement of these two sites.
